Im studying chemistry right now and i am having trouble determining what the chemical formulas are to ionic and covalent compounds. Here is a sample question: Calcium (Ca) combines with chlorine (Cl) to form calcium chloride, an ionic compound. Calcium has two electrons in its outer energy level and chlorine has seven electrons in its outer energy level. Determine the formula for calcium chloride and EXPLAIN your answer.
I researched calcium chloride and found the formula is CaCl2, but on a test i wont be able to research the answer. Are there easy ways to dechemical formula ionic compoundtermining chemical formulas?

In ionic compounds, you have the metals (on the left side of the periodic table) who tend to pass off electrons, and you have the non-metals (on the right side) who have "gaps" in their electron shells and tend to accept electrons.
In the case of CaCl2:
Chlorine has 7 electrons in its outer shell. A full shell for would require 8 electrons, so it is "looking" for 1 extra electron to fill its outer shell.
Calcium has 2 electrons in its outer shell. It would like to give those extra two achemical formula ionic compoundway, so it's looking for 2 takers.
Soo... Chlorine (with the one gap) calls up another Chlorine (also with the one gap), and now you have a total of two gaps. Two extra electrons from Calcium and two gaps from the two Chlorine make a good fit, and everyone is happy.

Li has 1 electron in its outer shell, O has 6 electrons in its outer shell (looking for 2 to fill up)
2 Li together can offer the two electrons O is looking for. this makes Li2O.

I've been able to do this on Macs forever, but I've never been able to figure out how to display a different wallpaper image on each monitor in a multiple monitor setup in Windows XP. I've got three monitors connected to a PC at work, but I'd like different wallpaper images.
There is no way to do this in XP natively, but you could always create a custom image that is three wallpaper images in one, so when it is displayed it looks like you have three wallpapers.

It IS possible you could be pregnant - but it isn't likely. 99% of sperm cells die anyway. I would go to a local pharmacy and take a "Morning-After Pill" they should just give you one. But you have to take it within 72 hours of the act. These pills are extremely unhealthy for your body because they kill off cells - don't use frequent hiccups in adultsthem unless absolutely necessary. Also, get a pregnancy test if you miss your period. You can get them at the dollar store or any other store. Dollar store ones do work, I have asked my doctor about them. Don't spend more money than you have to.
Next time you two get intimate - I suggest using a condom. Even if you aren't going to have intercourse - when he blows his load, it makes an easy clean up. If you do not know how to put one on, watch videos on youtube.

I have a camera, tripod, pencils, paper, and patience. I know how to make the clips shorter and put it in movie maker so it looks like an animation, but how do I animate smoothly so it looks like an animation?
At the very least, you need some kind of plane or table to lay the artwork on, shooting two frame at a tim and allowing the smoothe progression of things. If you have the real guts for it, one frame per artwork, but paper so prettythat means you need a whole lot of artwork (24 frame a second)

At the very least, you need some kind of plane or table to lay the artwork on, shooting two frame at a tim and allowing the smoothe progression of things. If you have the real guts for it, one frame per artwork, but paper so prettythat means you need a whole lot of artwork (24 frame a second)

instant spelling dictionaryWhy does this generation have such trouble spelling simple words like 'separate'?
It's crazy! When I was younger I had to go to the dictionary to find a spelling and couldn't imagine an instant spell checker at the click of a mouse. I'm not talking about the accepted use of online slang or abbreviated chat but people who actually don't know the difference between 'to' and 'too' or 'lose' and 'loose'...and these are people whose first and only language is English! It seriously makes me cringe.
I feel the same way. I was talking to a few of my friends the other day about how today's children and teenagers are becoming too reliant on technology, and not just for writing, but for math, science, entertainment, work, transportation, etc.

Then I would proceed to ride my bike approximately 2.4 miles, pick up my bike and carry it up the stairs to the 4th floor and play Dungeons and Dragons for 5 or 6 hours with 8-10 other people then hang out for another couple of hours. Then I would proceed to pack everything back up, take my bike down the 4 flights of stairs, ride 2.4 miles back home, go upstairs to put my stuff away, then go downstairs and take the trash out, then go to bed.
Not once did I use a phone, a television, an electronic game system, motorized transport, or bad language skills. Why is it so hard for today's children and teenagers to do all this? Because they've been taught that they don't have to.
The fundamental reason is that they're not taught to speak clearly and enunciate accurately.

I don't mean in a hocus-pocus sort of way. I know that they have a very keen sense of smell, so I wonder if they can smell (or otherwise detect) chemical indicators of emotions (i.e. norepinephrine for affection).
My beloved dog was killed a few months ago, and once in a while I still get really sad (though I've been getting much better since I've been openly allowing myself to grieve). Today I had a moment like that; I took down his box of ashes and held it, thinking about my memories with him. We have this older cat, he's 13yrs old (maybe 14 or 15 but were guessing 13) and we've owned him for 12 years. Anyways, at night sometimes, he'll run around the house and meow really loudly, and yowl (might be the word) and he'll do this until someone yells to tell him to shut up haha. He does this either at 2am or in the middle of the day. He also likes to stare at walls and random objects.

I did my own calculations some time ago and came up with a home run figure somewhere in the 580's. I think you're estimate is right on! He would have easily reached the hall of fame without the need of drugs. Unfortunately his ego got the best of him and now he finds himself on the outside looking in. As far as I'm concerned he should never have the privlige of being elected into the hall of fame.
Maybe he needs to ask himself if all of this was worth it.

Initially, you are going to experience excess gas, but after about three dayscabbage soup diet, this should start to subside. If it doesn't, you can always add Beano to your first spoonful whenever you have the soup to take care of the unpleasant side effects.

Yes, Michael Vick should have his day in court, as is the right of all US Citizens. However, if he's guilty, then I believe he should be punished to the full extent of the law. I also believe that today's laws in regards to animal abuse and dog fighting are pathetic. We are in dire need of much stricter laws, and serious penalties for such heinous acts. It's a well known fact that mass-murderer Jeffrey Dahmer started out abusing animals. People who abuse animals will eventually hurt people. And it is my strong belief that dog fighting is one of the strongest forms of abuse than any animal can suffer from.
Also, if Michael Vick is convicted, then I believe that he should permanently be banned from the NFL. In a perfect world, Athletes should be role models for young people. However, as we well know, this is not a perfect world, and many of today's athletes are terrible role models for young people around the world.
The only "good" thing to come out of this awful story is that people (including politicians and lawmakers) are now very much aware about the horrors of the despicable act of dog fighting as well as animal abuse. Perhaps now, we'll get stricter and better laws. After all, a dog is supposedly "man's best friend". We owe it to them to protect them, and all animals from cruelty and abuse.

Well he should definetly be found guilty. My personal opinion is that he should be punished severely. But he will be let free and found not guilty. Why? First of all you people don't know any of the facts in this matter so I think you should keep your mouths shut, don't forget the duke lacrosse incident , where those boys were publicly bashed and scorned before any of the facts came out, it's fine that you guys feel strongly over this issue, no ones is saying you shouldnt feel the way you feel, but until you have heard all the evidence Michael Vick is innocent until proven guilty.

I agree, but I think his entire contract salary should be given to the RESCUE organizations and SPCA's that will need to care for the dogs (if they can be rehabed), he should be banned from the NFL, and he should be FORCED to do community service at the humane society.

Yes, Michael Vick should have his day in court, as is the right of all US Citizens. However, if he's guilty, then I believe he should be punished to the full extent of the law. I also believe that today's laws in regards to animal abuse and dog fighting are pathetic. We are in dire need of much stricter laws, and serious penalties for such heinous acts. It's a well known fact that mass-murderer Jeffrey Dahmer started out abusing animals. People who abuse animals will eventually hurt people. And it is my strong belief that dog fighting is one of the strongest forms of abuse than any animal can suffer from.
Also, if Michael Vick is convicted, then I believe that he should permanently be banned from the NFL. In a perfect world, Athletes should be role models for young people. However, as we well know, this is not a perfect world, and many of today's athletes are terrible role models for young people around the world.
The only "good" thing to come out of this awful story is that people (including politicians and lawmakers) are now very much aware about the horrors of the despicable act of dog fighting as well as animal abuse. Well he should definetly be found guilty. My personal opinion is that he should be punished severely. But he will be let free and found not guilty. Why? Okay I have alot to say on this because I know how devastating it can be and so very hard to get through, but there are definitely things you can do to help ease the pain. Maybe not speed it up, but help it. I hate to say this because it's so cliché but it will heal in time. You have to give yourself some time to think the whole breakup through. A lot of people may not agree, but what I find helpful is writing pros and cons of the relationship. This may even help should you decide to get back together down the line. But if you do get back together, you have to do it with a clear head and then your heart.
When I break up with someone and if it's an especially difficult breakup, I write down all the things that were good about the relationship and bad with it. At first you might find only good things, because you miss her so much. But in time you will see why you broke up and in your case, why you wanted to break up to begin with. Keep coming back to your list when you think of things to add; it doesn't have to be a all-in-one-shot process. Remember how she made you feel, good and bad. Remember what you did right and could have done better. This can help you realize what you want out of love in the future, and how you can be a better person to your nest girlfriend. I'm not saying you did anything wrong, but there's always room for improvement.
To numb the process a bit, try staying as busy as you can. Everything will remind you of her, so no matter what you do she will be on your mind. What I would do is go out with people, not by yourself. You'll just be more depressed. The club scene is not something I would recommend since it's just loud and annoying igetting over a break upn my opinion.
